The Sea Inside Movie Review

Sea Inside is a great movie. The story line in it is based on a true story about a man named Ramon Sampedro, who is a quadriplegic. The movie details his struggles to have a dignified death. Ramon feels that his life really has no more meaning to it. He looks at it as though time is passing against his will. During the movie a host of characters emerge and help develop the story. Some of the key characters in the movie are Gene, a friend and helper to Ramon. Rosa a blue collar worker, a disc jockey, and friend to Ramon. Rosa plays a big role in what happens and how the movie develops. The character of Rosa eventually realizes what Ramon is say and offers to help him out in the end. Ramon's brother is completely against his brothers decision, and his father is dosn't know which side to choose. This movie is beautifully made and depicted Ramon's struggle. The main theme that I picked up on was don't judge someone based on your opinion and belief but look at there situation and then develop your opinion.

Here is my running acount of the movie.

The Sea Inside is a movie about Ramon Sampedro, a quadriplegic, and the movie takes place in Spain. Ramon became a quadriplegic for almost 29 years ago in a horrible swimming accident. Ramon jumped into the sea and while he was swimming the undertow pulled back and snapped his neck. Now 30 years later Ramon is unhappy with his life and wants to end it in a dignified way. The Lawyer, Julia, wants to help Ramon end his life, and to do so she ends up staying with Ramon to build her case for Ramon. Ramon has a crush on his lawyer and that is revealed in his fantasies. While she is there she asks the opinions of several people that are close to Ramon. Most of them want to see Ramon's wish of a dignitied death carried out, but Ramon's brother is completely against his brothers decision. Ramon's father is kind of on the fence about what his son wants to do to himself. While Julia is staying there she has a stroke and is hospitalized. While in the hospital Julia reveals that she want to join “Death With Dignity”, because she is tired of living her life with a degeneralive disease.. However, Gene and gives her a talk to about the difference between Ramon's and Julia's positions on why they want a dignified death Ramon's decision is because he can not get any more out of life, while Julia still has a chance to live her life. During the movie a Father Francisco, tries to reach out to Ramon to change his mind about his choice, but Ramon sticks to his decision. Julia returns to Ramon and they continue where they left off, before Julia's stroke. One day Julia and Ramon make a pact to kill themselves as soon as the book by Ramon is published and printed. However, before that Ramon has to go to court to plead his cause for euthanaisa. While in court the judges just state legal things and never listen to Ramon on the first go around. The judges understand that Ramon wants to die, but they would consider helping him die a criminal act. Rosa a friend of Ramon's helps him out the movie, and wants to help him end his life, because she truly loves Ramon. Ramon goes to where Rosa lives and lives out his final days before he commits assisted euthanaisa. Ramon drinks a glass of water laced with cyonide. He drinks it and passes away. After Ramon's death, Gene goes to Julia's home to deliver a letter to her. However, Julia disease has ravanged her mind some much she does not even remember Ramon.
