1.  The protagonist, Ramon, wants to die...what is your view of assisted suicide.  As few of you realize, this is one of the emerging dilemmas that YOU will personally deal with in practice, ie, in Oregon a person may have Rx-scripted OD dosages of barbiturates to assist death (the legality of this is contested by the Federal government, but quite a few people have used this technique to expedite a 'planned death'). State your view and defend or contest assisted suicide.

My view on this subject is I support the idea to a point. In Ramon's case I support the idea of assisted suicide. Because he had no joy for life. Ramon looked at life as if he had been given a prison sentence. This would be a type of case that I support, someone who has tried all other options and none of them worked. Assisted suicide should be a last option, but none of the less an option. People should have the right to choose what they do with their own life. If an individual wants to end their life then that person should have the right.

2.  My doc research was specifically focused on folks like Ramon; however, none of my patients ever discussed expediting their death with me.  Give three issues that struck you as different about the way Ramon viewed his life in the movie, considering foremost that he wanted his life to end.

Ramon said that he has no dignity with the way his life is. Life is degrading without the ability to be like everyone else.

The issues about Ramon accepting a wheelchair. He saying that it would be like excepting crumbs of what use to be his freedom. It would be a false hope for him. This caught my attention because he is right that it would be a false hope to be in a wheelchair.

Another issue that struck me was when Ramon asks Rosa to help him die if she truly loves him. This struck me because that would be like saying jump off a bridge if you love me.

3.  The ladies seemed attracted to Ramon.  State 3 features that made him attractive to the ladies in this film, remember that there are more than three ladies he deals with (be specific and name them in the context of your answer for points).

To me Ramon comes as a hopeless romantic, who is attracted to all the women in his life, but his attraction to all the women in a different way

Julia I feel he has a strong attraction to Ramon because she is Ramon lawyer, and she is fighting for Ramon and his wishes for assisted suicide. However, Julia is also suffering from Cadasil syndrome( a degenerative disease) and is thinking about ending her life as well. Ramon expresses his thoughts to here in a letter saying that they share the same hell, and that is why she is his lawyer. Also I feel Ramon has feelings for Julia as it was displayed in the beach scene where he kisses Julia.

Gene to me is Ramon's best friend and even though she supports his choice for assisted suicide she is kind of against it. She supports Ramon during the whole movie and to me just seems to be the best friend of Ramon.

Rosa just seems to be a friend that evolves into a friend that falls in love with Ramon. Rosa at first is just a friend to Ramon and dosn't see eye to eye on Ramon's decision of assisted suicide. Then Rosa still dosn't want Ramon to die, but she is falling in love with Ramon. After having a talk with Rosa about love and helping him, Rosa decides that she is going to help Ramon out by giving him the cyonide laced water.

What a job!

I might describe my job in a little more detail here. I'll write about what I do, what I like best about it, and even some of the frustrations. (A job with frustrations? Hard to believe, huh?)
